Musings from a Sweet Pill

‘A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…’
Mary Poppins, 1964

The Placebo Post is a capsule for sweet aesthetics and unsubstantiated cultural musings. It’s a newsletter where the critic can be a pill. The essays and interviews prescribed here come in small doses and are best consumed directly upon waking.

The Post believes that criticism can be sweet (and ought to be) and that language is a malleable and wonderfully effervescent solution for this dubious art form. It operates under the assumption that today’s works of art are nothing less than elixirs of love: heady nostrums taken to realize the implausible and transmute reality.

If you feel queasy reading fresh criticism on an empty stomach, you may prefer to fortify yourself with essays from the past, handily compiled on the Archive page of this site.

The Post delivers missives as the whim arises directly to your electronic mailbox. You can subscribe via the link below. If you feel so inclined, please support the Post and you’ll earn my eternal gratitude. Donations are possible via the Tip Jar link.
